Transfers a pattern from a transparent film onto a light-sensitive surface: a screen-printing mesh, or a pre-sensitised printed circuit board. The membrane lid presses the film against the surface — that close contact is what produces a sharp result, and it is what separates an exposure unit from a plain lamp.
